From the creators behind the iconic Metro series comes a game that continues on the same post-apocalyptic path they started on but doesn’t form part of the Metro series. Arktika.1 will be the first VR title from 4A Games and after more than a year in development, the game will be releasing as an Oculus Rift exclusive today.
We’re very excited to see what 4A Games have done with the title, seeing as it’s one of the most anticipated AAA VR games releasing for the Rift this year. But for now, you get to see some more game footage via a newly released trailer. And it looks very promising.
Check out the trailer below:
In Arktika.1 you play a hired mercenary for humanity’s last hope, the city of Arktika.1 in old Russia, which is one of the last remaining vestiges of the human population in the wake of the ‘Great Freeze’. Now, it’s your job to help protect it from raiders, marauders and horrific creatures that want in on the valuable resources in the territory. You’ll have to employ some tactical thinking and spend time customizing your weapons in order to defeat them. Or prepare for an early, very cold grave.
Arktika.1 only offers teleportation movement at the moment but judging from the trailer, it looks like it won’t affect the fast-paced action or take away from the impressive narrative the game offers. Arktika.1 combines engaging combat with impressive visuals to offer an immersive environment that pulls you into the story and scare you senseless at times.
So if you’re a big fan of the Metro series or you’re just looking for an atmospheric game with action-packed gameplay then make sure to check Arktika.1 out when it releases tomorrow. The game will be available on the Oculus Store at a $29.99 price tag, though you still have a couple of hours to pre-order to get the 10% discount.
