Usually, when you’re awarded amazing powers and have a mission to complete in a game – you’re the hero. This time around, however, you might want to think long and hard about what exactly you’re doing. In Alchemist Defender VR you play the role of a Master Alchemist who has spent his life searching for those highest of achievements in alchemical endeavors. The mystical Philosophers Stone. However, the means to get it involves going through portals to other worlds and using those lands to fuel your creation of the masterpiece of your life’s work. Strange then, that the inhabitants of these worlds aren’t all too keen on this idea are starting to fight back. Guess you’ll just have to annihilate them all then.
TreeView Studio‘s Alchemist Defender VR is a strategy game that balances tower defense mechanics with intense first-person combat using melee and ranged weapons. The game launched a few months ago in Early Access but is set for a full launch for HTC VIVE and Oculus on Steam on November 22nd, at 16.99 USD. Though you can currently still get the early access version for $14.99 USD before the full launch date.
Upon full release, Alchemist Defender VR will feature 4 full levels, each composed of 10 waves of incremental difficulty inspired by the Golden Ratio. Yup, the developers went full alchemist circle with this one. Each level will also feature multiple classes of enemies. In terms of gameplay, as stated before, this game mixes tower defense with first-person combat. There are three sets of turrets in the game, including a fast Cannon, frost, and mortar turrets. You’ll be able to reposition these turrets as the situation demands throughout the game. As for the combat, you’ll be able to wield both melee, ranged, and explosive weapons. These range from a War Hammer and Chain Flail, to grenade launchers, chemical shocks, and a void hole.
