Wales Interactive, the studio behind the VR horror Don’t Knock Twice, have announced that Time Carnage, their time traveling shooter will be released on April 17th, 2018 for PlayStation VR, and HTC vive and Oculus Rift on Steam.
In Time Carnage the aim is not to learn about history (or the future) but rather to shoot up as many of the species in that time as you can. While traveling back and forward through time, you’ll get to wreak havoc through worlds swarming with dinosaurs, monsters, robots, and zombies. Yeah. Zombies. I’m not entirely sure what time those come in but you have the great honor of getting to see them nonetheless.
As you progress through the game, you’ll have access to an arsenal of weapons that you’ll have to unlock and upgrade to keep up with the ever-growing challenge of levels and monsters. Choosing the right loadout is also important as you tackle the 16-tier campaign mode or custom arcade mode – complete with perks, challenges, and hidden weapons. “For each zone you’ll handpick a selection of guns to suit your play style and battle with a timed-reload system as you unlock an arsenal of 25 mix-and-match dual wielding weapons,” the studio said in a blog post.
Check out the trailer below:
Time Carnage takes place across 16 unique locations, with various mechanics that augments the fast-paced action such as dual wielding, a frenzy-inducing timed-reload system, and punishing challenges for weapon perks. If things are progressing a little too quickly for you to keep up with though, you could always search for the elusive time-stalling paradox.
So if you’re keen on taking a not so leisurely stroll through a prehistoric jungle or a futuristic metropolis then Time Carnage might just be for you.
