The much-anticipated VR real-time strategy game, Brass Tactics, will be getting a slight delay according to the games developers. Originally scheduled to launch on October 19th, the new release date will be February 22nd 2018. Sad news for all the eager fans that preordered the Oculus exclusive, but the news is nothing if not bittersweet.
With no indication that any problems have arisen with the games development, the delay might seem a bit odd. But, Hidden Path Entertainment has said that it will be using the extra time to add even more content, nearly doubling the players number of unit choices. This among other changes are aiming to provide players with more freedom of choice and deeper mid game strategy.
Testing the Waters
RTS games are sorely missed in the VR arena, and Brass Tactics isn’t the only one to answer the call. Vertigo Games’ Skyworld is another VR RTS that is set to launch this October on all the major platforms. This has left many people questioning if the motives behind the delay of Brass tactics has more to due with timing rather than content. This seems like a safe bet, and a smart move by Oculus.
The delay, no matter what the actual reason, should prove to be good for all parties involved. Rift owners will no longer have to choose what game to focus on first. That should result in higher sales for both titles, something that will no doubt make Oculus very happy.
