Anshar Studios, the developers behind Detached, have announced that they’re bringing the hardcore space PvP game to PlayStation VR on July 5th, 2018. The game, which previously released for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, offers a single-player campaign that takes you through the perils of space in an abandoned space station while throwing you into the deep side – zero gravity style. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, then you can head outside for a thrilling PvP match while mastering the special abilities from your suit, like lock-on missiles, a shield ability, and EMP Rockets. Detached offers two multiplayer modes, including Package Extraction which has you fighting an enemy to gain the upper hand and take a package back to the base in one piece, and Race which tests your agility and ability to anticipate as you race an opponent among pieces of broken shuttle and large asteroids.
The official plotline of the game revolves around searching for scrap in space. “The shuttle, Big Zoe, is the perfect place for scavengers looking for space scrap – no self-respecting brawler would pass on the opportunity. You’re unlucky though, because you’ve been left to fate; fighting for oxygen supplies and remnants of fuel. The only thing you can do is rely on the advanced modules of your EVA suit and move on, exploring the other areas of the abandoned space station. You must find life capsules at all costs, but that’s only the beginning of a hard struggle for survival.”

Are you ready to experience the cosmos like never before? Well, real life doesn’t afford most of us the extraordinary privilege of experiencing outer space. But virtual reality does, and Detached does this masterfully with a combination of beautiful design and engaging gameplay.
Back when we first tried Detached on Vive in 2017, I had the following to say: “I have to comment on the great soundtrack of the game. It must have cost Anshar Studios quite a bit of cash (and a non-essential employee’s arm in sacrifice, maybe) to get a fully orchestrated score composed by Mikołaj Stroiński for their game. Then, in terms of the graphics, all I can say is wow. The developers did a great job. I really liked the design of the environment and the space station interiors were especially well-designed in my opinion.”
Detached has received great opinions from players who have appreciated the amazing quality of the graphics, excellent immersion and unprecedented freedom of movement compared to other games. Though don’t be fooled, PSVR players are in for a wild ride because this game is aimed primarily at the most demanding players that expect extreme sensations from VR games.
The title features full support for the DualShock 4 controller and will release on the Sony platform on July 5th for $24.99/24.99 EUR. So if you think you’ve got the stomach and skills to handle the perils of outer space and zero gravity, then make sure to set a reminder for this release so you don’t miss out on all the action. Anshar Studios hasn’t revealed whether the game will feature cross-platform support for the online multiplayer, but we certainly hope so!
