It was so close, you could taste the toner. Hell, Road to VR’s Scott Hayden has even released a review for it. Unfortunately, the rest of us are doomed to sit in Neat Corp’s waiting room, listening to cheesy elevator music. Yes, I am talking about yet another delay for Budget Cuts.
In an announcement made today on Reddit, Neat Corp has cited optimization issues as the driving force behind delaying the games launch. The news comes just one day before the game was due out. Probably the most disappointing news however, is that we now have no official release date set.
For Whom the Call Bell Tolls
Okay, I will stop being dramatic and get to the point. The devs mentioned some pretty serious optimization issues that need to be taken care of before launching. Framerate issues, an audio performance problem, an elusive progression-blocking bug, and occlusion culling have been holding the team hostage. While hopeful and hard at work fixing the issues, they were ultimately overworked and probably a little sick of cold pizza.
If you would like to read more about each specific issue, be sure and check out the Reddit post here. But, the general takeaway is that the Budget Cuts team is making headway and expects the delay to last weeks, not years.
At the end of the day, it is easy to be a little upset about the news. However, we all want our games to run as smooth as possible. Honestly, what’s another few weeks when so many great games are available to keep playing in the meantime? We will be sure and update you on any new announcements as they become available. Happy waiting VR gamers!
