The cartoonish tower defense game, CastleStorm VR was released by Zen Studios last year for Oculus Rift and Gear VR. Now the studio announced that the castle razing game will be coming to PSVR owners next month as well. CastleStorm VR, however, was originally ported to VR from the original PC title, so it simply offers a 2D game where you can be present physically.
Instead of simply sending your units to the rival castle, in CastleStorm you’re catapulted right into the battle where you get to see all of the action up close. Don’t expect any blood or gore, however. This isn’t your nitty-gritty type war game. With it’s 2D graphics and colorful style, the game gives off a more casual feel.

Do You Have a Hankering to Go Medieval?
So as you’ve probably gathered by now – you’re put in charge of defending a castle with units while trying to destroy an opponent’s castle when playing CastleStorm VR. It’s a pretty standard title within the tower defense genre. You get various units to choose from, like soldiers, archers, knights, and griffins, which you then send in waves to fight against the other player’s units.
“Harnessing the power of PlayStation VR, you are placed directly onto the field of battle, where you’ll see, feel and hear every whizzing arrow, battle cry, horse gallop and ballista shot as though you are really in the midst of combat. Get medieval in a whole new way with CastleStorm VR,” the studio said in a recent press release. Luckily it’s not all about going medieval on your opponent. You get to unlock rooms in your castle that offer you special abilities, and you can also build your castle into a nearly impenetrable fortress. So it’s not just unit spamming all the way.
So if you have a hankering for an established VR tower defense game and you’re looking to sharpen your strategy skills then make sure to check CastleStorm VR out when it launches on August 1. No price tag has been announced yet.
