One could argue that virtual reality offers the perfect medium for first-person shooters – hell if Arma could be used for military simulations then just imagine what VR is capable of! But of course, most of us would just play these for fun, and indeed, games like Onward and Pavlov are some of the most popular VR games out there precisely because they offer military-style multiplayer shooter fun. Unfortunately, the PSVR has been missing out on this, because most of those types of games have been released for PC VR headsets only. Until today.
Bravo Team is a cooperative VR shooter that was announced for PSVR by developer Supermassive Games last year. If the studio sounds familiar to you then it’s because they’re also behind Until Dawn and it’s VR spin-offs, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and The Inpatient – which means that they have a solid chance of producing an action-packed immersive experience as promised.

The gameplay footage and screenshots we’ve seen so far look pretty promising and might just fill that VR Call of Duty itch we’ve been having. In fact, Bravo Team was supposed to launch during Q4 2017 but towards the end of the year Sony announced that the game would be delayed in order to “give the development [team] extra time to make the [game] as enjoyable for players as possible.”
In Bravo Team you’ll be trapped in hostile territory along with a teammate and you will have to work together to survive. The game lets you and your friends fight through story-based missions in a battlefield that’s fully explorable, with an array of different weapons to play with. Sounds fun right? The game apparently also lets you take cover behind almost anything – which kind of makes sense for a VR game.
Bravo Team has been released in the US today with a $39.99 price tag as a standalone version that you can play with using the Move controllers or Dualshock controller, as well as a bundled version with the PlayStation Aim controller. The game will release for European players tomorrow. So if you’re up for some fast shooting with a friend then make sure to give Bravo Team a try.
