Nothing beats putting on your HMD and dropping into combat in a giant robotic killing machine. Sadly though, VR has had a rough go when it comes to mech combat. However, PSVR owners are all set to see if Code 51: Mech Arena will have what gamers crave, next week.
That’s right, in a recent announcement from developers DeerVR and Smellyriver, the arena based mech game is releasing on the console, April 24. Unfortunately, the announcement failed to indicate how much this mechanized modern warfare will cost. But, we do expect further information to be released in the coming days.
What We Know
We might not know the price yet, but we do have a pretty good idea of what we will be getting. Code 51 is set in a future that is in the middle of a long and ugly resource war. After nations discovered a new source of power, they made some bad ass robots and used that new power source to keep on fighting. Standard human logic, let’s move on.
The real important stuff here is that we have 9 different mechs to choose from, each with a unique loadout. From the videos release by the developers, they look to be light, medium, and heavy class mechs with three options in each category. We will also get three different arenas to do battle in.
It is pretty clear that Code 51 is all about the arena combat. You can go head to head in online multiplayer, or solo against some bots. Bots playing bigger bots that are being killed by your bot. Why not? Check out Code 51: Mech Arena on the PSVR, April 24. Be sure to head on over the developers twitter account to get in on a game giveaway before launch. Just be sure to let them know who sent you.
