This past weekend Oculus Studios announced at Disney’s D23 Expo that they will be releasing a Marvel superhero game called Powers United VR along with Marvel and Sanzaru Games. The studio revealed that there will be about a dozen characters when the game releases but had only revealed three characters when they announced it. Including, the Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Rocket Racoon.
Now Deadpool has also been revealed as a playable character in the game meaning that you’ll be able to play the quintessential anti-hero when Powers United VR launches for Rift and Touch sometime in 2018.
From some early gameplay footage that was revealed, it looks like the merc with the mouth will not disappoint as he can be heard cracking some quips while gameplay ensues. As for the gameplay itself, it looks like you’ll be treated to both his guns and his two katana’s as you move around the map killing bad guys. The locomotion options for this character seems to be a combination of thumb pad movement and teleportation jumping.
If you’re at the San-Diego Comic-Con this week then you can try out Marvel Powers United VR at the Marvel booth where they have a demo of the game setup on Oculus booths. In the demo you get to play as one of the four characters currently revealed in a mission against Ronan the Accuser, with a little help from Lockjaw the Inhuman dog who lends the group his teleportation abilities. So make sure to go and try a seismic punch as the Hulk, fly around as Captain Marvel herself and shoot people with your photon beam or Slash baddies to pieces as Deadpool while you’re there.
