One of the great things about VR is being able to live out your most fevered fantasies. No, I’m not talking about those types of fantasies mind you, but rather the more innocent ones. Like being Indiana Jones in an epic adventure full of traps and twists. Eye of the Temple from Danish indie studio Sanctum Dreams offers exactly this experience in an immersive VR setting, whip in hand and all.
Sanctum Dreams have revealed their debut VR adventure game, Eye of the Temple which is set to release for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift on Steam. In it, you explore a treacherous temple with a unique sense of immersion via lots of environmental interaction and a movement method that makes you use your own feet.

Eye of the Temple doesn’t make use of teleportation, smooth movement or any other form of artificial locomotion. Instead, you step onto moving stones that will take you across various areas in an ancient temple. “The response from people trying the game at events has been fantastic. Even people new to VR can jump right into it, while veteran VR gamers tell me the immersion while traversing the world is unique compared to any other VR game they’ve tried,” said Rune Skovbo Johansen of Sanctum Dreams.
The game has no interface elements or use of buttons, and instead lets you step, dodge, duck, interact with the environment, and whip using solely your own body and hand movements. It’s a unique platformer with a traversal mechanic that lets the player lose themselves in the depths of the vast temple.
No final release date has been announced for Eye of the Temple yet, but the developers said that they’re aiming for a late 2018 release.
