A VR game about big, slow, battleships in outer space. That is how Blendo Games is describing their latest creation, Flotilla 2. This time around the single player space combat game is being developed specifically for the HTC Vive. Objects get to move around in 3D space, why shouldn’t the player?
Taking full advantage of the Vive’s room-scale tracking, Flotilla 2 takes the original Flotilla’s gameplay to the next level. Whether you’re searching for that perfect angle of attack, or trying to find your optimal firing solution, VR definitely gives tactical planning new depth. Flotilla 2 is looking to capture that through its turn-based combat system.
Solo with a Dash of Creation
Players will get a complete campaign mode to play through, but the fun doesn’t end there. Included with the game are the level design tools that will let you create and share your own battles on the Steam Workshop. I can’t wait to see what kind of tactical nightmares you folks have in store for us!
Flotilla 2 should be available by August 1, according to their Steam page. The game will cost $15 and currently only supports the HTC Vive. There is no word yet about whether or not Flotilla 2 will have future support for other HMD’s, but we will be sure to update you if any news breaks.
