Who is ready to trash some baddies that stand in the way of your sweet freedom? I know I am, and we are going to do just that in Studio HG’s latest game, OVERTURN. In this action-puzzle adventure game, players will find themselves trying to escape from a laboratory chalked full of genetic experiments complete with terrifying psychic powers.
Your goal, make it out alive and find out why the masterminds behind these twisted experiments imprisoned you. Luckily you have a psychic powerhouse of your own to aid you along the way. That is, if she doesn’t have a meltdown along the way. Can this other would be escapee keep her powers in check long enough for you to make it out alive? We will know soon enough.
More Power, More Drama
While we don’t know a ton about the puzzle aspects of OVERTURN, we do get a pretty good idea of the action thanks to the trailer. The first-person combat involves everything from hand to hand combat to beam rifles and looks pretty flashy. Something I don’t mind, at all. Your sidekick, MAGI, comes packed full of crazy psychic powers like Time Slow and Shield to aide you in the thick of things. OVERTURN will also support both teleport and free motion, something that should make many players very pleased.
The game also has some nifty support features for content creators. That is something we would love to see more of. OVERTURN features built-in Twitch chat support and third-person cameras that content creators can use to give their audience a better view of the action. The publisher has also mentioned that multiplayer functionality will be released after the initial launch but did not provide a specific date or type of support.
We are definitely looking forward to seeing how streamers utilize the extra features thrown in for content creators. It is an interesting idea and we always love to see more VR streams getting the good word out there. OVERTURN will be headed to the Oculus Store and Steam on October 17th for $29.99 and will be available for both the Rift and HTC Vive.
