Fishing Star is one of the oldest social mobile games out there and just recently turned 10 years old. So to celebrate, Japan-based GREE decided to release the cartoonish game for VR on Google Daydream. Though it will only be releasing in North America. Sorry everyone across the pond.
So if you’re a regular angler and can’t get to the waters as much as you like these days then this might be a great option. Because Fishing Star VR is the definition of casual fishing. So you might not actually be next to the water drinking a brewsky, but it’s the next best thing. The game is currently free for people living in North America (until December 14th) and then will go back to its regular price at $8.65.
Check out the trailer below:
Fishing Star VR allows up to six people to play together at a time and features over 100 different types of fish to catch. If you do play against others using the online multiplayer option then you could win rare items and avatars. Which is how the game encourages social play. Plus yes, you can fully customize your avatar but do note that you’ll end up looking like a Loli either away. As you would expect, the gameplay simply involves casting your line with the controller, waiting for a bite, and then reeling it in.
Though if that’s not relaxing enough to you, then the game also offers a aquarium spot where you can go and watch all the fish swim lazily by, or just scroll through your fish album. Though you’ll have to catch them first if you want them to show up there.
What are you waiting for then? Fishing Star VR will only stay free until December 14 at 15:59 (PST). So head on over to the Google Play Store to get your copy and you can start fishing today!
