Virtual reality gamers are no strangers to western shooters, with titles like High Noon VR and Cold Iron – but one of the most entertaining Western games (for both VR players and those watching them play) currently out there, is probably the wacky horseback shooter Hopalong: The Badlands.
The studio has now announced that Hopalong: The Badlands will be coming to PlayStation VR players as well. It’s due for release next week, on July 17th.
Check out the trailer below:
Released last year for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift by From the Future LLC, Hopalong: The Badlands has gotten quite the reputation due to it’s rather, er, unique locomotion system that allows players to ride around the vast wild west by making their stick horses go up and down using a controller. You can probably imagine the real life image that accompanies that action. Dirty thoughts aside, Hopalong: The Badlands is actually meant to imitate the cowboy games you played as a child, with a stick horse in one hand and a gun in the other.
Hopalong: The Badlands lets you explore the caverns, open plains, and arid peaks of the badlands as you ride along, fighting off the infamous Dynamite Gang and collecting new weapons and steads on the way. It’s definitely a unique take on the Western theme, even among VR titles like Guns’n’Stories: Bulletproof VR.
So if you’re up for some high noon action, then you better saddle up that hand (ahem, that came out dirtier than expected) and get on your horse for a showdown. Hopalong: The Badlands is set to have three single-player campaigns ready for the PSVR release, so you should have enough things to keep you busy in The Badlands next week.
