Indie game developer, Storm in a Teacup, along with publisher 1C first announced Lantern VR back in July. In the game, you control a Chinese lantern that brings back joy and color to the land after a princess’ tears turned the world bleak and grey. The game will be released on Steam on November 15th with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift support.
Instead of wild, crazy action – Storm in a Teacup are promoting a message of peace and harmony with Lantern VR. Throughout the game, you’ll maneuver your lantern through East-Asian-inspired environments – bringing their bright colors back to life. There’s not much info on the plotline – the only info given by Storm in a Teacup so far: “Once upon a time, there was a very sad princess. She felt so unloved and unhappy that everything around her became grey and lifeless, and the entire land was deprived of color and joy. Our fable begins when a single, lonely lantern was lit in a faraway village…”. But maybe that’s all there is to it.
It seems that instead of having any major plot arc, the game simply promises a relaxing experience with stunning visuals and ambient music.
Here’s what Lantern VR has to offer:
- Bring the powerful message of everlasting love to four Asian-inspired worlds
- Create wonderful lantern festivals by spreading warmth and joy
- Restful music and peaceful sounds will accompany you on your journey
- Immerse yourself in a relaxing experience, like a virtual coloring book with an aesthetic atmosphere
It was Albus Dumbledore (a.k.a. JK Rowling) who said that happiness can be found in the darkest of times – if one only remembers to turn on the light. So ignite your inner light and bring the world of Lantern VR back to life on November 15th.
