If you’re anything like me, you have been itching for a quality Mario Kart type experience in VR. A few attempts have come and gone, but nothing really fills that cartoonish racing game void in my heart. However, not all hope is lost for 2018. In a recent announcement made by Enigma Studios, it has been confirmed that Mini Wheels will be coming to VR.
According to the developers, it will have full VR support, from day one, for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The feature list is strong, the graphics cartoonish, and the Karts can super slide. Could this be answer to VR’s Mario Kart dreams?
Rockets and Racing
For those of you unfamiliar with Mini Wheels, it is a racing arcade fantasy game that takes place in a child’s bedroom. Everything is scaled and toys and other items make up the landscape. The game modes include racing, capture the flag, burnout, and even boss battle. Local and online multiplayer support is also available.
Unlike other games of its kind, Mini Wheels also features a story mode. Players will need to help Pipo, the lost toy, find his way back to his missing human. Freaking adorable. The story is told throughout several action-packed races where you will be introduced to many of the available characters. In addition to everything else, you can customize how your cart looks and drives. Just give me some rockets and epic power slides and I am good to go!
The Steam page for Mini Wheels is up and it would seem that we are in for a bit of a wait. The Steam page has December 20th as the projected release date, with a $15.00 price tag. In the meantime, you can subscribe to the games website for updates and to help shape the game to come. As always, we will keep you informed as new details skid across the finish line.
