One of the things I love most about any MMO or RPG game is a well-designed boss fight. Unfortunately, once you beat that boss, it never holds that same unique, first time challenge again. Well, Evocat Games has found a way around that and would very much like to share it with you in their latest game, Nemesis Realms.
In this indie VR action game, you can actually be the boss and wipe the floor with up to 4 of your friends. Raid planning be damned! You can flail about like a mad man or be as cunning as you like. Each encounter should be as unique as the players actually playing it. Let’s look at what we know.
Boss Fight 101
Rift, Vive, WMR, whatever you have, the player with the HMD will be taking on the role of the boss. At launch, you will have access to two unique levels, each with their own boss. The first is a fantasy mountaintop stage that uses simple VR mechanics. The boss punches and swats away at the heroes. The hero’s try to hack and slash their way to victory while dodging. The second stage is where things truly start to sound interesting.
Located in a gothic cathedral, a three-headed dragon waits to unleash its unique abilities on unsuspecting adventures. The heroes must use the destructible environment to their advantage, in 2D platformer like gameplay. Get close enough to attack, or die trying. If you read that in a dramatic tone, it sounds like amazing fun. The developers are also working on a third map that will be rolling out as early access progresses.
We don’t know a ton about the heroes’ abilities, or to what extent the encounters are designed for different skill levels. What we do know, is that the idea sounds like an awesome party game. We will be able to find out how everything plays out as early as January 22nd. We also know that the early access will be half off the full release price, which should be announced in the coming weeks.
