Last week Insomniac had us all on edge with the surprise release of a developer spotlight video. At the end of that video, they hinted at a big announcement and boy they delivered. Today, Oculus and Insomniac have announced that Stormland, a new open world action-adventure game, is in the works.
In Stormland, players take on the role of a peaceful gardening robot that gets busted up by “The Tempest”. Exactly what is “The Tempest”? We will have to play the game and find out. What we do know is that our story begins after we wake up centuries later.
It would seem that Stormland has several different environments for players to explore in both single and co-op game modes. How you explore is a treat unto itself. One of the perks to having a robot body is having jet-packs that allow you to bound, glide, and fly your way around the expansive world. You can even augment you body with the right tools for the job, and you will have lots of work to do.
A lot has changed in your world and not for the better. Your friends are now at the mercy of robotic sentries and titanic guardians. It is to you to harness the weapons at your disposal, including electricity, explosives, and makeshift weaponry, and reclaim your world.
We expect some more announcements on Stormland as the year rolls on. However, its release isn’t expected until 2019.
