Mechabit first released Pierhead Arcade back in 2016, making it one of the first mini-game compilations for the VR platform. After that, the carnival-themed arcade game came to Oculus Rift and now the indie studio has partnered up with publisher Archiact to release the game for PSVR too.
In Pierhead Arcade you get to test your fair skills against 15 different games, including bowling, shuffleboard, whack-a-dino, and the infamous ‘claw machine’. The game is situated on a virtual pier inside a colorful arcade that brings the nostalgic arcades of the past to vivid life. You’ll be able to explore the outside and inside of the arcade via teleportation, which allows you to admire the nice views on the pier as much as the twinkling lights inside.

Once you’ve collected some tickets you can then, of course, buy yourself some prizes – that’s why you’re there after all, right? The prize booth in Pierhead Arcade contains a mishmash of interactive carnival props and prizes, each of which should bring back some nostalgic feelings.
“Leveraging the highly accurate tracking of PS VR, this title excels at simulating the authentic arcade experience with one-to-one movement, comfortable locomotion, and satisfying throw/toss actions. The mechanics of Pierhead Arcade are simple enough for players of nearly all ages to pick up and instantly enjoy, but its various games offer enough difficulty to challenge even the most savvy of arcade junkies,” Archiact said in a press statement. There’s also a global leaderboard for those who are looking to see if they can become the best at pinball or whatever else they fancy.
Pierhead Arcade is now available worldwide for $14.99 USD on the Playstation Store. The game will also be 10% off during launch week for PSVR players in the US and 15% off for all PS+ members. So if you’re in the mood for a good ol’ time at a classic arcade with friends and family, then this might just be a great option.
