Survios’ Raw Data is one of VR’s success stories, having made the top of Steam’s global best-seller list within its first month since release for HTC Vive. Since then it’s added support for Oculus with Touch and won quite a few awards. All that, and the game is still in Early Access!
But now PSVR players will also be able to get their hands on the action game when it launches out of Early Access for Rift and Vive in September this year. Announced at E3, Raw Data will not only leave Early Access – which means fans won’t have to wait for it to be an even more polished game than it already is – but there will be one last major update as well. This update brings with it a new PvP mode, a new map, a new joystick locomotion option, and a new Hero. Talk about a content overload – I’m almost giddy! But the Survios didn’t stop there, they are also promising a “massive graphics boost that amplifies the pixel clarity” by moving the game to Unreal Engine’s Forward Renderer.
The new PvP mode is called Hostile Takeover and is a team deathmatch scenario where players will get to play in an “Eden vs Syndik8” competitive match. The teams will be divided into 5 players each and all characters will be available to play with.
“Our players have been clamoring for PvP ever since Raw Data’s earliest demos,” says Survios Game Design Director Mike McTyre in a press release. “Raw Data was always meant to be played with your friends beyond traditional co-op. Now, whether it’s an intense one-on-one duel or a chaotic 10-person battle, players can actually feel the adrenaline-charged intensity of fighting for their lives—only now against each other.”

Along with the new mode, the studio is, as stated above, adding more content as well. This includes a new map set in the Eden Corp Botanical Gardens and a new SyndiK8 hero called Elder the Rogue Hunter. He is a “technologically-enhanced archer”- so ranged assassin basically. His weapons include holographic decoys and homing arrows.
So look out for this exciting game and new content when it launches out of Early Access in September. The final release date and launch price to be announced.
Raw Data isn’t the only VR game to be ported to the PSVR, Sony announced at E3 on Monday Superhot will also be coming to PSVR this summer. We’ll keep you up to date on VR game news and announcements at E3 2017.
