Resident Evil 7 was one of the best games for PSVR to release this year. Maybe even since the Playstation VR’s release. The game was met with applause from the VR community and we saw many hilarious videos of people scaring themselves silly while playing Resident Evil 7.
Along with the success of the long-running Resident Evil series, the latest installment saw lots of praise and so Capcom promised an accompanying DLC which would expand upon the story in the main game. Originally teased during the ending credits in Resident Evil 7, the Not A Hero DLC will be a free add-on that promises some more dark, pants-soiling moments.
The Not A Hero DLC, which follows the story of Chris Redfield, who made a short appearance at the end of the main campaign, was set to release sometime during Spring this year for PS4 but was delayed, unfortunately. The reasons why aren’t exactly clear, though apparently, it was due to quality concerns – according to Capcom. Now, however, the release date for the free DLC has been revealed via Gematsu who translated the news from a Japanese magazine called Famitsu. Not only that, but an add-on called “End of Zoe” will launch alongside the downloadable DLC content on December 14 in Japan. This add-on is a Zoe Baker after story.
It’s Not Official Yet
It seems players won’t have to wait long anymore to see the return of the iconic Chris Redfield to the series. However, since this news hasn’t been officially confirmed by Capcom yet, it has to be taken with a grain of salt. There’s no official news either about whether the DLC and add-on will have PSVR support but it seems like a logical assumption since the main game does support VR play.
We’ve reached out to Capcom to confirm that the expansions and extra content will have PSVR support as well as to make sure whether the release dates for US and EU will be the same as for Japan. Though, since the previous Resident Evil DLC releases in the West did coincide with those in Japan, I’m positive that we can expect the same from this latest installment.
If you aren’t the proudly terrified owner of a Resident Evil 7 game yet, then fear not since, according to the same leaked news, the Gold Edition of the game is coming to PC, Xbox, and Playstation 4 on December 24. This edition will include all of the DLCs and expanded content, including the Not A Hero DLC and End of Zoe add-on.
