Have you ever wished you could dance down the yellow brick road like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz? Ever wanted to strut through the evil witch’s castle without fear of flying monkey attack? Have you dreamed of bopping your way right up to the great and powerful Oz in the Emerald City? Yeah, me neither, but I do like rhythm games and Run Dorothy Run is just that.
The Land of Oz seems like an odd place to base your rhythm game in but Virtro Entertainment is giving it their own take. Chalked full of comedy and ridiculous plot twists, we will set out to dance our way through a unique retelling of this classic story.
If I Only Had Moves
At its core, Run Dorothy Run is a rhythm game that is set to a electro-swing soundtrack. You gather crystals as you run across the lands of Oz, you collect power-ups, and fight adversaries along the way. All the while you are treated to a comedic telling of the story we all thought we knew.
The games 16 levels definitely look like they will be a nice workout. As we see in the trailer, you’re endlessly running and waving your wands around in order to collect crystals. You will have difficulty settings ranging from “Grandma” to “Guru”, so if you need to burn off that last cheese burger, this could be your ticket.
Run Dorothy Run is headed to the PlayStation VR platform this Fall. No price has been provided yet and no word about any potential Vive or Rift releases. For now, PC VR owners will just have to click their heels together and hope Run Dorothy Run comes to Steam or Oculus Home.
