Aeon VR is a first-person shooter set in a futuristic robotic world that released on May 22 on Steam for HTC Vive. The game is available for $29.99, but the launch price is 35% off until 29 May.
Yup. It’s another wave shooter. Set in the future. With robots. Feels like I’m in a writing loop these days.

Aeon VR Features Really Cool Animations
Aeon VR is being created by Illusion Ranger, who might not have really focused on a storyline with this one, but they did get a couple of things right. Firstly, I really liked the detail they put into the robot animations when you’re shooting or slashing them. You have two pistols in holsters at your sides and two swords on your back with which to fight back the onslaught of robots. So whenever you’re shooting at a robot, the points you shoot at leads to the robot actually reacting in different ways. Although, the guns jump out of your hands when you’re out of ammo. But you just equip a new gun after that so ammo isn’t a problem. And when you’re slashing one of the robots, the parts you slash fall off realistically. I have to say it looks pretty cool.
You yourself are a robot as well, but like I said, there’s no storyline really – so there’s no explanation for why you’re a robot or why you are fighting other robots. But, the game does look good graphically, though the first level is a little simple in design. However, from what I’ve heard this is supposed to be more of a training level. They don’t tell you that though. You also have the ability to slow time. Which not only helps you with defeating the other robots but also makes their animations look even cooler.
But in the end, I don’t feel that this game is worth the $29.99 price tag, right now. Sure it looks like the developers are planning on adding more content, but the gameplay is quite repetitive and besides the graphics and cool robot animations. I can’t say that Aeon VR offers anything new or spectacular.
