Strategy gaming fans, we have some good news for you. Vertigo Games has partnered up with Wolfdog Interactive in an attempt to reinvent classic strategy gameplay for VR gamers. Making its debut on Windows Mixed Reality, Skyworld is scheduled to be released this Fall.
Skyworld is launching as a full-feature VR take on the classic strategy gaming genre. Taking full advantage of tracked motion controllers, interacting with this fantasy world should be a easy as pie. Combining turn-based strategy, resource management, and real-time battles, this game is built from the ground up specifically for a solid VR experience.
Breaking Down Barriers
Players take on the role of the king of Skyworld. Unfortunately, your kingdom is a war-torn shell of its former glory. Lucky for Skyworld, you are here to take down the evil forces corrupting your lands and reunite them as one. The world around you is influenced by your every decision, so build your armies well, and try not to spend all your gold on that sea side summer vacation castle.
Playable on Windows Mixed Reality, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive, this game definitely caters to most of the top HMD’s available. This is great news because in addition to a story-based single player campaign, Skyworld offers an online cross-platform multiplayer mode. So, no matter what HMD you and your friends own, playing together is a snap.
Skyworld also has a full range of support so if motion controllers and room-scale is not your thing, a seated experience with a gamepad is also an option. No matter what HMD you choose to play on, we a certainly excited to see more games like Skyworld going cross platform and bringing VR gamers together. While we do not have a solid date on when Skyworld will be available, we do know that it should be available on Steam sometime this Fall.
