Survios has kept up a steady pace of hype and action since they first released their Mario Kart-like foot racing simulator, Sprint Vector earlier this year. Not only has the game been well-received and kept a good player base since launch, despite how difficult it usually is for multiplayer VR games to keep up a large enough stream of players, but the studio has also been releasing a stream of updates for Sprint Vector to improve the game and attract even more players.
Back in March, we saw the addition of a new map in the Space Race update that lets you zoom across the neon lights of Outer Vegas, a luxury resort strategically positioned between two black holes where time stands still. The team at Survios seems to be running just as fast as the characters they create, however, since they’ve just released another big update, aptly called the Big Bang update, that adds a new map and two new characters to the game.
Cosmic Odyssey is a dangerous new area in the heart of the Moebius 3-15 black hole, not too far from the Outer Vegas resort. Unfortunately, the race takes place in a top secret research center that’s probing into the singularity’s depths and has ruled the area a no-fly zone. But Mr. Entertainment needs to keep those ratings up and you want to earn your fame as one of the best racers in the galaxy, so onward and upward at Sprint Vector speed we go.
Check out the new gameplay:
The game also gets two new characters, both of which will be available on all of the maps of course. The new additions include Rockslide, a comet who’s been awarded a new bipedal body by Mr. Entertainment and wants to keep it at all cost, and Necho, a cyborg cat-like alien from a distant long-dead planet whose citizens’ souls have been fused with their undying queen.
Besides the new map and characters, the update adds a new leaderboard called Pure Leaderboards which ranks players in both single- and multiplayer races when racing in Competitive Mode without the assistance of AI Racers and Power-Ups. Which means you’ll have to really show your skill if you want to reach the top of this leaderboard. In addition, Survios has also wiped all of the leaderboards in the game, which might aggravate some while making others happy. So seems it’s time to head on into Space again racers. We’ll see you on the tracks!
Sprint Vector is available now on Steam (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift), the Oculus Store (Rift), and Playstation Store (PSVR).
