Brazilian based studio, Tapps Games, recently released their latest Gear VR project, Sunken. Gear VR owners can now pick it up at the Oculus store for only $1.99. The hidden object game will plunge players to the depths of the ocean as they explore a long sunken ship.
The game features various interactive locations where players must locate hidden items that are listed for them in batches. The name of the game is speed when it comes to this treasure hunt. The faster you are, the higher your score multiplier will go up and you will be able to unlock further parts of the ship.

Part of the appeal of this style of game in VR is that players can really explore their surroundings. Looking under or inside objects just feels natural in VR and truly taking in your surrounds is profoundly easier. When that location happens to be set in a creepy sunken ship, a feeling of discovery can quickly become one of dread.
Sunken has a dark story behind the game that unravels as you progress. The developers tied that story progression into the treasure hunt, and that adds a nice layer to the game. You will start to discover subtle clues as new areas of the ship become accessible.
While this definitely isn’t the most amazing looking game available in VR, or even for the mobile platform, it does show potential. Mobile VR still has lots of genres to explore and this type of exploration and treasure hunting gameplay fits in nicely on the mobile platform.
