Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games or MOBAs are all the rage these days. However, they’re not very prevalent in the VR scene. One studio is hoping to change that. Designed to take you beyond the 2D experience, the moba-loving developers behind Dark Eclipse hope to be the ones to bring moba gameplay into the new age of VR.
Sunsoft announced that Dark Eclipse will make its western debut at the PlayStation Experience, Anaheim, later this month. The game’s first demo outside of Japan will be playable at the event. After which, it will be coming to audiences in the West in spring next year, on Playstation VR.
Choose Between 20 Characters In Dark Eclipse
The game features a roster of 20 characters, called ‘Leaders’, from which you’ll choose three characters to lead into battle every game, and also build towers to destroy the enemy base. “At launch we will focus on 1v1 gameplay, so winning or losing is entirely up to you. This will be the main focus until the competitive season starts. Later, we will move on to 2v2, and the dynamic of the game will start to require teamwork. Eventually, we want to reach 3v3 matches. We don’t want to jump into a situation where there are not enough players in-game at any given time, and we don’t want to have people waiting for a long time for a match,” said Bill Hung, Senior Programmer at Sunsoft in a blog post.
In Dark Eclipse you’ll simply pick up characters to put them where you want them. The game is also paced casually so you can move around with ease. Dark Eclipse will also allow rest periods between matches so players can rest up a bit before entering the fray again.
Dark Eclipse was set to release in the USA back in September 2017 but was delayed for an unknown reason. However, the studio has now confirmed that the date has been moved to sometime next year for release in the USA. No confirmation has been made about whether the game is coming to Europe as well. No specific date has been announced yet either.
