And this game boasts some of the best graphics I’ve seen in a VR game so far. Plus, even though it isn’t a widely-known title yet, A-Tech Cybernetic has received lots of praise for its excellent weapons handling mechanics. Right now, the game is still basically a wave shooter, in swarm mode. But the developers are adding a story mode soon. The developers also introduced a new map to the game this week, which adds a cave-like environment and a new boss called ‘the brute’.
In the beginning, people created robots. And everything went well. At first. But then in a Terminator-like irony, the robots decided they could rule themselves. And that we are now obsolete. But we aren’t taking this lying down – no sir. We’re fighting back, putting our metal to their metal. But these robots, called A-Tech Cybernetics, are more zombie-like than robot-like, which I found interesting. They seem to be biorobots of some kind – which is where the game gets its name from I imagine.

A Futuristic VR Version Of Nazi Zombies?
So I’ve seen people say that this game has a Doom-like feeling to it. And yeah, while I can kind of see that, A-Tech Cybernetic reminded me of the Call of Duty mode, Nazi Zombies. Albeit a futuristic version of it – without the Nazi’s of course. Because like in Nazi Zombies you are basically trapped in a location where you have to run around and defend against maniacal creatures coming in to dismember you. But you can periodically lock the doors to buy yourself some time. And just like in Nazi Zombies, you can choose from various weapons on the walls which you can buy through money/points earned while killing the robot-zombies. And when your clip is empty, you reload by taking that weapon again.
The game has both teleportation and trackpad locomotion as options. But it doesn’t mean you can get away from the monsters indefinitely. You can teleport or run around the room, but the meter has a cooldown – so there are times when you’ll simply have to stand and fight. The teleportation is also stackable. In terms of ammo – it runs out pretty quickly in the game, but luckily you can just keep grabbing new guns on the wall as soon as they respawn. And you can dual wield.
Currently, the game is single player. But the developers are planning on adding multiplayer and co-op in the future. What’s more is that they say you’ll be able to play A-Tech Cybernetic with non-VR players as well. Overall, I would say that this game shows real promise.
A-Tech Cybernetic is available for $14.99 on Steam for the HTC Vive right now. We’ll keep you up to date on any future updates.
