Picture this, you’re cruising around in your starship with your buddies in some distant galaxy. Just killing time, and talking about what you would like to do today. You want to go to a FPS zombie planet and get your kill on. Your friend wants to go nautical and get his pirate on. Ultimately you decided to hunt down some other players starships in a PVP zone, and plunder their booty. Just a typical day in The AlterVerse.
That scenario is still a long way off, but the idea is spot on and the groundwork is underway. Disruption, the first of several planned games set in The AlterVerse, is headed our way sometime this year. Dog Star VR Studios hopes that this will be the launching point that will ultimately lead to a sprawling universe of game worlds and experiences set within The AlterVerse.
The first game will have a range of content set in a futuristic sci-fi setting in a newly discovered solar system. Players can work through a single player mission called Quest for the Keys, that will have you scrambling to save your new ship in a timed game. You can join other players in ship boarding parties to loot other ships, or even play a game of Draft Ball. I have no idea what Draft Ball is yet, but I am assuming it’s a mini-game on your ship. Though the thought of using my starship to play some sort of interplanetary football sounds infinitely more fantastic.
You will also have a place to just socialize after a day of looting or questing. The Mama Bahamas Lounge is apparently a hot spot for gossip, using the games voice chat of course. While the details for this game are still a little light, the goal of the studio is definitely vast. From a functioning in-game economy and world building, to gathering and crafting systems, Dog Star VR Studios definitely has its work cut out for them.
