With October finally upon us we can certainly count on a handful of horror themed content. Some will be good, some will be horrible. But, once in a while you will find that perfect gem that will get you in the mood for all October has to offer. First to starting line this year, studio Wolf & Wood brings us, The Exorcist: Legion.
From the creators of A Chair in a Room: Greenwater comes another twisted take on storytelling. This time set in the demonic world of possession. Fans of The Exorcist will no doubt be familiar with the work of the late great William Blatty, but if you have been living at the bottom of a stairwell, here are the basics.
The Exorcist franchise deals with demonic possession, questioning one’s faith and sanity, and a little fella named Pazuzu. That, of course, simplifies things so if you’re looking for a good fright go check out the anthology of films. You won’t regret most of it and you will pick up on a few clues left in the trailer once you do.
Chapters 1 & 2
While we know very little about the direction Wolf & Wood is taking their project, we do know that it will be broken down into chapters. The first and second chapters will be available this October and run about 20-25 minutes each. The experience will be available on the Vive, Oculus and PlayStation VR platforms so no one is left out.
Each chapter will feature its own demonic entity that will be hell bent on breaking you mentally. You will be investigating locations around the world, doing your part in some exorcisms, and testing your resolve against the forces of darkness. Locations include a Chapel/Priest’s office in chapter one, and a hospital/padded cell in chapter two. The rest will take place in a nursery, morgue, and excavation site respectively. Did I mention that each chapter is based on a real case? That’s not at all creepy.
Whatever is in store for us, we can count on the five chapters dropping between now and January. The Exorcist: Legion will support tracked controllers, “blink”, and “free roam” locomotion so everyone is happy. No price is available as of yet but we will keep you posted. In the meantime, brush up on your Latin and detective skills. And, it might not hurt to grab a couple of friends to help out. I recommend an older one and a younger one.
