Developer Croteam VR and publisher Devolver Digital recently re-released their critically acclaimed first person puzzle game, The Talos Principle. This time around it’s called The Talos Principle VR and will truly be in, you guessed it, VR.
While the game originally featured VR support, it was limited to a flat screen experience. This taste left VR players begging for full immersion. Now Rift and Vive owners can experience everything Talos has with full 360 immersion, tracked motion controllers, and room-scale support.
Hours of Fun and Frustration
If you are a fan of puzzle games and science fiction you are in for a treat. In The Talos Principle VR you will find yourself in a world full of ancient ruins and highly advanced technology. Your mission, to solve the puzzles your creator has placed before you. However, you have some choices to make. Will you have faith in your creator, or seek out your own destiny?
Just like the original release, you have access to over 120 puzzles to explore and solve along your non-linear journey. The Talos Principle VR will also include the Road to Gehenna expansion that gives you four more episodes. I haven’t tried the expansion myself, but they are said to be some of the most challenged the game has to offer.
The game supports just about every form of locomotion possible in VR so you should have no trouble finding what suits you best. Think of it as its own little journey of self-discovery. The game does retail for $39.99 on Steam but don’t let that price frighten you away. This game provides an incredible amount of gameplay for a VR game and the quality of the experience speaks volumes to what VR has to offer.
