In the world of virtual gaming, zombies take up a fairly large section of the floor. They feature in virtually every genre – from RTS games to action platformers, and of course, first-person shooters. The latter is probably the most popular genre for zombies – seems people just can’t get enough of shooting the shuffling dead. Which is all fine and dandy but know what’s even more fun? Bashing them to bits with any available thing you can find. Which is exactly what Throw Anything developer VisualLight went for.
Yeah, I know, it’s yet another zombie game – like can’t developers just move on to poltergeists or something already, right? Well, I don’t have the answer to that, but I can say that Throw Anything isn’t your ordinary run of the putrefied brains zombie game. Launching in Early Access on Steam for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality this coming Wednesday, Throw Anything puts you high up on a building during a zombie apocalypse and instead of mindless shufflers these zombies have some parkour tendencies and decide to scale their way up the building to get at you. Luckily, there are plenty of furniture lying around to throw them to their final death below – and hopefully, take some of their dextrous friends with them.
And if all else fails then you can just throw some of your NPC friends at them too – that’ll teach your neighbor to blast his crappy music at three in the morning. So much like it’s namesake, this game want’s you to literally throw anything to stay alive a little while longer.
Take a look at the trailer:
Judging from the trailer above and gameplay footage, Throw Anything pairs a colorful low-poly visual style with some wacky gameplay mechanics to turn the zombie apocalypse into a fun rather than terrifying experience.
Everything – well mostly everything – in Throw Anything is destructible. So if you run out of appliances and vases to throw then just break your couch and start throwing pieces of that. Rather your furniture goes than you right? Luckily these zombies don’t exactly have the talents of Alain Robert so throwing them off is relatively easy. Though the game will feature our mid-bosses and five main bosses across its five stages.
So if you’re in the mood for some mindless fun then make sure to check this game out when it releases on February 28th. At the very least, this is one zombie game you might actually let your kids play if you’re against the more gory stuff out there. Throw Anything is also set to get PS VR support later this year, presumably along with a full release out of early access. For now, you can get the game on Steam Early Access for $16.99.
