It’s usually during this time of the year when you’ll see a lot of festive themed games popping up. And this year is no different. A merry mood is in the air and developers are capitalizing on games like Nick and Merry Snowballs. Now Mythical City Games, the developers behind Skytropolis, also brought their popular snowball fight game to Playstation VR, just in time for the holidays.
The studio released Snow Fortress for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in December last year and now PSVR players will also have a crack at maiming snowmen with snowballs for $15. The game is currently only available for Playstation VR owners in the US but the studio said that they want to bring the game to the EU, as well as possibly adding multiplayer in a future update.
Check out the trailer below:
The gameplay in Snow Fortress doesn’t just make you throw snowballs at top-hat wearing snowmen, but it also gives you a slingshot and a shield to make the process easier. But besides that, the game has a single-player campaign that combines the fighting with a base building mechanic where you have to build your own fort which then needs to be defended against snowmen who are hiding behind their own snowforts. The game has 20 levels where, in an almost Minecraft-like style, you have to build a fort for every level. These forts are built with blocks of snow and ice (if you want to have windows to see through) of course.
There’s also a survival mode that has you build a fortress too but then you have to defend it against wave after wave of incoming snowmen. I’m not entirely sure how they’re able to move without legs. Then again, snowmen aren’t actually supposed to be alive so let’s not question that I guess. Anyway, this game involves a lot of ducking and diving in a fun winter-themed world. Plus there’s a cute little fox companion for moral support.
So if you’re in the mood for some winter themed fun without having to trudge around in the mushy snow, then you’re in luck!
