Westworld has brought the thrill of the wild west back for a lot of people. Pair that with all the love Delirium Studios has for notorious cowboys like Billy “The Kid” – and Unforgiven VR was born.
Developed by Delirium Studios from Spain, Unforgiven VR released on Early Access on Steam last month. And this game is all about the quick draw and clinking spurs. Currently, it’s an HTC Vive title only.
Start Shootin Em Up
Your mission in Unforgiven VR is to conquer the west by becoming the best duelist ever. In this game you’ll feel the thrill and tension of a western duel. Because it’s multiplayer so you face off against other players to see who shoots first. Unforgiven VR promises an experience where a split second can decide who lives and who dies. In this game you can choose between four different characters with which to start your journey into the wild west. Although, the devs are promising that more characters are on their way.
At first, your character is pretty unknown, however, as the name suggests, your aim is to become known as a ruthless cowboy who is unforgiving towards his opponents. Your play-style also determines the nickname you earn – like Dirty Earl. So shoot your way through the ranks of the leaderboard to become the most wanted man (or woman) in the west. If you thrive in the ruthless social world of Unforgiven you could become a true legend.
Unforgiven VR’s Game Mechanics
The game lets you search for fast duels with anyone or duel a specific player. Each duel has several rounds and lets players rematch if they want do. But you can’t just become a master duelist overnight. Before you meet your foe in the square at noon you might want to build up your aiming skills first. There are also different weapons to choose from in the game.
Which is why the developers have added several modes in which you can practice your shooting on the ranch. You can perfect your aim on bottles and cans before you face real people, or just go back for some practice now and then.
In terms of future development, there are plans to add more scenarios (currently, there’s only one); a saloon, where you can play poker with other people or join a knife throwing game while you wait for someone to duel you; more places to interact with; mechanics to let players create their own characters – though if you die you have to start from scratch; teaming up with friends to rob banks; and more.
As for right now, I wouldn’t say this is one of the best Early Access VR games available for the Vive. But it just released and if the developers fulfill their promises, I can see this becoming one of the more popular VR games out there. You can get Unforgiven VR on Steam for $5.
