Valve is a name that is well known by the VR community. The company has its hands in both hardware and software development, in addition to several years of experience in non-VR games. So, it is no wonder that when the company responsible for some of the greatest PC games says that it is going to work on developing three VR titles, the internet buzzes with anticipation.
Unfortunately, almost a year has passed since that news first broke. Fast forward and, aside from a recent confirmation that work is still in progress, we have as much info as to what is in the works as we did back then. Still, confirmation is better than no news at all and it gives the old rumor mill a nice spin.
Valve is committed to making three, full sized VR games. We just don’t know when to expect them or what they will be. Valve has more than a few titles under its belt, Half-Life and Dota 2 just to name a few. Both games are enjoyed by a large following and even have VR support. That level of interest would most assuredly not go unnoticed.
As much as we would love to see new additions to both games roll out in VR, created by people that know VR and VR gamers, we could be in for completely new games. Artifact, the Dota 2 inspired card game could very well be one of the anticipated three. After all, this would be an easy fit for both VR and non-VR gameplay, a safe bet for a larger player base.
While the game has caused a bit of commotion in the gaming community due to it not being a part three to one of Valve’s major titles, people are still going to play the hell out of it. It’s Dota 2 related after all. Can we confirm this? Absolutely not, But, it makes us think and that is all we can do at this point. So, how would you feel about Artifact VR and, would you like to venture a guess as to the next possible Valve VR game?
