Hatsune Miku fans can finally meet the virtual singer in person, and while Hatsune Miku VR doesn’t exactly allow you to get a virtual autograph, it does allow you to dance backup to the adorable singer.
Announced a while ago by Degica Games for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, Hatsune Miku VR finally brings the hit holographic star to PC VR. She’s already made her way to PSVR but sadly left her PC fans wanting. That’s over now though, with Hatsune Miku VR.
This game encourages you to get into the rhythm of 8 popular Hatsune Miku songs by dancing along to the beat and touching the notes as they appear. The songs have two difficulty settings for those who want more of a challenge, or if you’re more into watching the show then you can sit back and relax while Miku does her thing in the Music Video mode. It’s probably the closest you’ll ever get to a personal concert from Miku herself.
If you’re more of a participant, though, then you’ll have to use your VR controllers to catch the melody symbols that fly from the speakers at the back of the stage, while watching out for the long riff symbols and other challenges that will lower your high score. And how else to show you’re a dedicated vocaloid fan if not through reaching the top score in a Hatsune Miku game.
The eight songs included in the game are:
- Ievan Polkka (by Otomania)
- Singularity (by keisei)
- Amagoi Miseinen (by Wada Takeaki ‘Kurage P’)
- Sharing The World (by BIGHEAD)
- Ghost Rule (by DECO*27)
- Senbonzakura (by 黒うさＰ)
- Hibikase (by Giga)
- SLoWMoTIoN (by PinocchioP)
That’s not a lot, but at least these are newer songs. Plus the developers are promising more songs in the future in the form of DLC add-ons.
So yeah, there are quite a few fun VR rhythm games out there already, but none of them feature the iconic pigtailed Crypton pop star. Though don’t expect a fully polished Project Diva title.
