EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone Wants You

Calling all capsuleers! CCP has just announced the first major expansion for their popular VR title EVE: Valkyrie. The Warzone expansion is coming and with it comes new ships, weapons, skill progression systems, maps and game modes. All this and more is coming to a hangar near you on September 26!

One of the biggest changes coming with Warzone is the addition of standard gameplay support. Not only will players be able to enjoy EVE: Valkyrie across the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms, they will be able to do so in and out of VR. This opens the game up to a whole new group of players who might not have access to VR. More pilots, more targets, more fun!

With War Comes Progress

The Warzone expansion also introduces several major changes to the game. The economy is now more streamlined with XP now being the only form of currency. A new progression system for each ship is also a welcomed change. Each ship will have its own unique abilities. Upgrade paths, that will allow players to cater to their fleet to their specific playstyles are also a new addition.

New players will now have access to a ship within each class from the start of the game. With classes focusing on specific combat roles, this gives players a much-needed chance to explore them early on. No more grinding to unlock ships just to find out it’s not what you expected.

Speaking of ships, a new class of ship known as “Shadow” is available and each ship has its own unique Ultra ability that is refueled during combat based on pilot performance. It is CCP’s hope that this will give players a more engaging combat experience as pilots and their teams wage war.

Capture the Space Flag

Two new maps set around a Drifter base and a Sisters of EVE space station are going to be available at launch. The maps are These two locations definitely aim to bring Valkyrie deeper into the lore rich EVE universe. A new game mode, ‘Extraction’, is also making its way onto the scene, bringing with it an interstellar take on the capture the flag game mode.

As you can see, lots to cover with this expansion. The only negative news is that VR players have to use a gamepad. Perhaps a future update will show some love for the motion controllers. For now, this massive update should keep capsuleers busy for some time to come.

EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone will be available on Steam for $29.99 upon launch. If you already own the game, the expansion will be totally free of charge and should be available on September 26.
