A couple of weeks ago, Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope from Croteam got the Arcadia update which added a lot more content and pushed the already polished EA title just that much closer to its final release. Now, this busy team released another big update (of about 4Gb) that adds some features they’ve been secretly working on since the start of their development on the game.
A skill tree and power-up system have now been added to Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope with this latest update. This new update promises to bring even more chaos to Sam’s world, and according to the studio was designed to help in the never-ending war against pesky alien scum. So the only question that remains is: Are you ready to get Serious?
Check out the update release trailer below:
Skills and power ups are completely new to the Serious Sam games and have never before been implemented in a game in the series. These skills and power ups allow Sam to release swarms of flying quadcopters, create holographic decoys, slow time, place minigun turret defenses, and much more. The skill tree includes, of course, both active and passive abilities that you can buy in the same way you would buy weapons at the shop. But the currency involved in buying these skills are called skill points which you earn by completing planets.
What’s more, if you decide to play in higher difficulty levels then you earn more points which allows you to really customize your skill tree to fit your needs and playstyle. “The Skills and Power-Ups update includes options to improve and upgrade weapons by finishing perfect runs. Players can gain one weapon upgrade per difficulty per planet, and unlock even more by playing future content that is yet to come,” Croteam said in a statement.
You can find the full change log with bug fixes, and more skill tree and power up details on the Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope Steam page. Do enjoy all the new ways in which you can blow things up!
