Search For An Emperor’s Lost Treasure In Althora

Althora is an adventure/puzzle game that has been released for the Gear VR. This will be the first VR title created by the studio behind the game, Eipix Entertainment. Though they are known for other casual mobile games like Mystery Case Files: Key to Ravenhearst.

In the game, you’re a space pirate/smuggler who crash-lands on the tropical alien world of Althora. You are on the hunt for a mythical emperor’s lost treasure located somewhere on this planet. Well, that was what you were doing before you crashed. But, your companion and guide, an ancient AI droid with a healthy dose of sarcasm helps you explore this new place in search of a way to escape. You soon find out that the treasure you were looking for in the first place might just be your ticket off this planet.

Althora Offers a Soothing Experience

Althora has some nice low-poly graphics – I really liked the look and feel of the planet. You get to explore a beautiful outside environment, caves, and ancient ruins. “A unique aspect of Althora is its otherworldly environment. Drawing inspiration from elements of terrain as diverse as the deserts of Nevada, the mountains of Japan, the Tibetan Plateau and the jungles of India, it provides a wholly unique visual experience,” the studio said in a recent press release. Plus the developers chose really relaxing music to accompany the game. So even though the storyline is technically somewhat tense, the music and beautiful surroundings give off a zen-like feeling.

As you solve puzzles and explore further along with your droid, you eventually come to the part of floating island where you think the final resting place of the emperor is. Along with his all too important treasure of course. In terms of gameplay, the game doesn’t make use of any controls and is a hands-free experience – your line of sight determines how, where, and when you interact with the environment.

But Althora will only work on these devices: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge. So if you like what you see, then make sure to check Althora out. It’s available right now on the Oculus store at $7.99.
