Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan was announced yesterday by Ubisoft Montpellier’s Loic Gounon and Fred Mizac at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. They described the game as a funny immersive experience and a great addition to the Rabbids franchise.
The Rabbids have some experience with virtual reality, having been to Gamescom 2015 at Ubisoft’s E3 2015 conference where they had people climb on a Rabbids VR Ride. The ride will not be available for commercial use, unfortunately, but it did allow for some laughs for the conference attendees. And it was most likely a small hint that the developers were looking to bring the franchise into VR.
Here’s the Rabbids VR Ride video:
Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan
Set to release on Google’s Daydream VR platform sometime later this year, in Virtual Rabbids you will be posing as an agent for a secret government facility. Unfortunately, the Rabbids have found a way to steal the nuclear safety codes hidden within the facility and succinctly proceeded to scatter them over various places. And being the crazy creatures they are, they not only left a trail of nuclear codes you now have to find – they also scrambled them.
As you hunt down each Rabbid you will have to deal with a different task or situation in order to get your hands on that all-important digit of the code. Like with anything the Rabbids touch there’s a lot of humor and insane antics involved. In each ‘world’ you encounter the Rabbids, you’ll be able to make use of the Daydream controller to interact with various toys and gadgets to accomplish your goals and solve their puzzles.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to find all the digits and save the world from those deranged critters and nuclear destruction.
Here’s the teaser trailer:
However, as you can see, they’re not revealing much in the trailer and there’s no official release date yet. Nor have they revealed an expected price range. But we’ll keep you posted!
